Share your love

This week, a week when two wonderful families that we know have lost loved ones, special attention has been on those that we can wrap our arms around and thank our wonderful God for. On Monday, friends from Kira's entertainment group lost their mom/grandma. I had met her once but knew what a wonderful woman she was from just being around her family- a loving, caring, Christ centered family. The motto this last week was "The show must go on."

On Saturday night we got a phone call from a friend of a friend, that their daughter had passed away. This little girl was not expected to live more than a few years and she almost made it to her 11th birthday! Despite her obstacles and health concerns, her family created a wonderful life for her. She, on the other hand, was a picture of determination, fearlessness and love. Once you got to know her, everyone couldn't help but be impressed by her ability to surpass the barriers of her wheelchair and all of the other medical equipment that surrounded her. Watch out for first impressions! She would bust them to pieces!

I am not writing about these people to make everyone cry, or feel sorry for these families. Their loved ones are truly free- in a place so amazing that we can't even begin to imagine its beauty. Neither one of them need their wheelchairs anymore! We can hear these stories and use them as wake up calls to appreciate those around us, to love on them, spoil them and make the most of our time with them. God put us on this earth for only a brief time- let's spend that time enjoying life and sharing love and laughter with everyone. God Bless.

My Curly Locks Girls

We finally figured out how to curl Kira's hair so she'll tolerate it AND it stays! Even Sara let us do it. Rag curls are the final answer!
Kira performed in a talent show at the fairgrounds and her performance group did a show and she wanted curly hair so we gave it a shot! Don't they look cute?!

My Birthday...

- I got to take a shower by myself AND shave my legs!
- Ron and I (and Wyat of course) went out to a yummy dinner and actually got to talk.
- Kira made me some brownies for the first time by herself. The thought was very sweet but the brownies weren't. She put in way, way, way too much oil and water. Results: very greasy, cakey, not very chocolatey brownies. Tomorrow she will try again...I can bet that she won't make that mistake again! She took it so well...I am proud of her.
- Lots of "Happy Birthday" memos on my Facebook from some of the awesome people in my life!
- Birthday cards from my kids and hubby.
- An appointment with my midwife to find out that Wyat has gained 1 pound 1 ounce- it's always good to hear that the good ol' breastmilk is working! The best thing today? I got lots of real, big, genuine smiles from Wyat. The kids are all trying to "earn" them from him too.

Wyat's Birth Story....FINALLY!

This is for you, Rita!

I got up in the morning with mild, inconsistent contractions. We ran errands and did stuff. When we got home, I fell asleep on the couch with my 2 year old on top of me. My midwife called to check on me but I couldn't figure out how to get up! Once I finally managed to get up the contractions kicked in hard enough to stop me in my tracks. This was about 3:15 pm. They still were not very consistent. Ron and I went to an appointment with our tax/ bookkeeper person at 4:00 and I had several contractions that I could not sit through. Around 4:45 we dropped the kids off with Grammy and Papa and came home to have a baby!
My midwife and her assistants arrived a little after 6:00 and my contractions were in full force and coming on like tidal waves. My water broke at 7:09 and Wyat Stephen Averett was born at 7:19 in our home. Yeah! He tried to come out with his hand on his head- which was just slightly uncomfortable- but we managed. He latched without any problems and is just perfect!
We will find out tomorrow how much weight he has gained....He is smiling and sleeping. Hooray! People don't believe he is only 3 weeks old- wearing 3-6 month old clothes.
I will update with pics soon. Grandma and Grandpa are visiting from Florida so I will get some of those pics up! God has really blessed us! Luv to everyone!
