Fun! Fun! Fun!

Hi all! It has been a week full of activities! Last Friday nite Kira performed in her first show with Illinois Kids and she did awesome! Not only did she sing well, but she actually moved on the stage! Yeah! They did another show on Tuesday which also went well. On Saturday we all went roller skating with Jacob's Boy Scout Pack- all but me donned skates, of course. Even little Sara had fun going in circles on wheels- isn't that a definition of insanity? Anyway, on Sunday Cody had his first T-ball game. It was so cute! They were all kicking up dust in the outfield and running the wrong way after batting the ball- a wonder that they can see anything with those batter helmets on!? Cody was just adorable like usual. THEN, on Monday nite we all went to Chuckie Cheese (yeah for them, yuck for us) with Jacob's Boy Scout den. They all did well and had a blast. Wednesday nite they all went for a bike ride while I got 15 minutes of sanity doing the dishes in silence and tonite we had a meet and greet for Cody's Kindergarten- yes, he wants to attend "real" school next year- followed by gymnastics. Whew! The week is not yet over and it has been FULL but FUN! Ron took his 3 hour exam today to become certified to service heat and air, please pray for a passing grade- that was after he worked and before he went to school. Keeping up with all of this? Life is good. God is keeping us all healthy and happy- we pray the same for you....

No More Brownies!

Nope. Sorry. Not the yummy, chocolately, melt-in-your-mouth kind...those will still live on in THIS house. Kira bridged over from Brownies to Jr. Girl Scouts tonite. Hello to yet another sign that my little girl is getting bigger then I want her too! I do have to admit...I like the green better than the brown. Boy, was she excited!!!

Yea! Field Trip!

What a perfect day for a field trip! We are studying Illinois history so we visited the Cahokia Mounds. From the top of Monks Mound- 100 feet tall- we could see the arch, dome and lots more! A little exhausting for me, but some great exercise climbing 155 steps to the top! That is after visiting the museum and walking about a mile around the smaller mounds. It was a fun and informative day! Tomorrow- March of Dimes!!!

Happy Easter!

"He is not here; He is risen!" What better reason to celebrate? Today was a fun day filled with treats, gifts, treats, food, lots of smiles, lots of eggs, more food and more treats. We have discovered that the true reason is enough for celebration, there is no need of the Easter bunny or any other make-believe, just that God gave his one and only son for us. Can you believe it? US!! Happy Easter and rebirth from the Averett Clan to you!

Yummmmmmmy!

Here is a fun and easy special snack for Easter. I will give you the official recipe from March/ April 2007 issue of Children's Ministry Magazine, then I will tell you what I did....

Edible Nests

Crumble 1 1/2 cups of shredded wheat cereal into a mixing bowl. Melt 1 cup chocolate chips in the microwave, then mix the melted chips and cereal. Place two spoonfuls of the mixture into each hole of a cupcake pan. Have kids form the mixture around the hole, leaving an indentation in the middle. Place the nests in the refrigerator to cool for 10 minutes.

Now, I used Chex cereal, cuz that is what I had, and didn't measure. I did initially shape a nest in the cupcake pan but it stuck and broke when I tried to get it out so I put wax paper on top of the pan and pushed a little down in the hole to form. Then stuck them in the freezer for faster cooling. I then passed them out and did the jelly bean story, you know where each color represents something. They are VERY YUMMY!!!! Have fun!
